Endowments

Two endowments have been established in Peter's name, one at York University where he completed his B.F.A. in Visual Arts with honours in 1977 and another at The Banff Centre where he was a photography instructor from 1977 to 1979. The endowment at The Banff Center is generously provided by longtime friends, the Gurney-Goessaert family from Toronto. The endowment at York University is provided by C3 Polymeric to honour Peter's entrepreneurial spirit and leadership. Information about each endowment is available at their respective websites.

Donations
Healing Journey Program

Peter was supported by the Healing Journey Program for over three years. It is offered at Wellspring Community Cancer Centres and Princess Margaret Hospital to people who want to learn how to help themselves when they have cancer or other serious chronic diseases. The program offers tools and strategies for coping with the stress of cancer and its treatments, empowering patients and their families. The Healing Journey Program is entirely funded by donations.

Gentle Ben Charity Challenge

Peter was a generous supporter of the Gentle Ben Charity Challenge, an annual fall event that raises money to support cancer research and support programs. Mark Zaretsky, Peter’s long time friend and golf buddy, dedicates all of his fundraising to “The Peter MacKendrick Fund” in support of Lung Cancer Research and Support Programs at Princess Margaret Hospital. Funds in memory of Peter are allocated to the Molecular Profiling of tumours for lung cancer and to providing comfort for patients who are presently receiving treatments. Six new recliners and three blanket warmers were recently donated. For more information or to sponsor Mark in the next event visit the link bellow.
